This is a slideshow of Doulos Discovery School here in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. It's only 2 minutes long, but it shows the difference between Doulos and the public school system here. Enjoy!

I can't believe it is March. The school year here at Doulos is flying by!

In 3rd grade, we are finishing up our simple machines unit in science. Our class is constructing a seesaw (lever) for the playground as a final project. We started studying Ancient Egypt in geography. It is always everyone's favorite topic all year. We will be making a pharaoh and then mummifying him!

Above is a photo of one of my students, Wilson. I just want to praise God, because I have been seeing some progress! I am still trying to figure out how he learns best... I've been using a lot of manipulatives (learning toys) with him in math tutorials and he's getting it slowly but surely!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Third grade finished off the year happy and full of sweets from our Christmas party! The whole school watched the movie The Nativity Story about the birth of Jesus. If you haven't seen it yet, go get it. It's an amazing visual reminder of all we have to be grateful for. We have a lot of catching up to do when we get back in January due to an unexpected trip for me and Hurricane Olga!
